Why is it So Important that I Read to My Child for 20 Minutes Everyday?

Parents always want the best for their child. Many parents want their child to have a better life than they have had. Many parents want their child to be more successful in school than they were. They don’t want their child to struggle like they did. What is the secret to a child being a successful student you ask? The ability to read and being a strong reader!

It is good for children to not be “plugged in” for more than two hours a day. It gives their brains a break from the fast pace and the blue light of an electronic device.

So Why Do you Have to Read for 20 minutes Nightly With Your Child?

  1. Parents are their child’s first teacher. They learn first from their parents. If your child sees how important reading is to you, then they will become more curious about it.
  2. Reading with your child is a great time for bonding and a great time for cuddling with your child before they get too big and don’t want to anymore. (I speak from experience here.)
  3. Reading at night with your child helps them go to sleep!
  4. When children see their parents reading, they will be more likely to do it too. You are helping your child become lifelong readers.
